Requirements :

Matric plus NQF level 6 (3-year Diploma) in Fire Technology/ Disaster Management or related field of study, coupled with 3 years’ experience in Fire & Rescue Services/ Disaster Management or a risk related field. Competencies: Analytical and logical thinking; Problem Management; Good communication Skills; Project Management; Client Orientation and Customer Focus; Leadership; Facilitation; People management; Planning and organizing; Report writing; Programme and project management; Policy analysis and development; Knowledge and application of the Fire Brigade Services Act and Disaster Management legislation; Departmental policies, priorities and processes; Understanding of public service legislation and systems; Flexibility and ability to work under pressure; Honesty and integrity; Attention to detail; Confidentiality; Work overtime and be on stand-by to respond to incidents and disasters in the province; Must be ambulator. A valid driver’s licence.

Duties :

Support the Development of Municipal by-laws; Support activities on monitoring and evaluation of Designated Fire Services; Support the development Fire Services Risk Assessment reports; Assist with organising meeting and logistical arrangements for monitoring structures; Support and monitor the implementation of Risk Reduction Plans and risk profiles; Support the Development of Risk Assessments and Effectiveness of plans; Support the Documentation of Fire Risk profile; Support the process of monitoring functionality of fire service coordinating structures; Support the monitoring of compliance to Fire Services legislation and policies; Support the development of compliance documents and drafting of reports; Provide support and technical advice to municipalities, sectors and other stakeholders; Organise and participate in fire risk reduction, events, and monitoring and evaluation committees; Administer the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for fire response for the Provincial Fire and Rescue Services; Draft Fire and Rescue Services Reports, memorandums and required correspondence; Ensure Management of leave rosters and plans; Administer activities of the sub-directorate.
