Requirements :

  • Matric plus NQF level 6/National Diploma in Security Management or relevant qualification as recognized by SAQA, coupled with a minimum of 5 years working experience in information security and Integrity Management, of which 3 years should be in a Supervisory level. Security Managers’ course offered by the State Security Agency (SSA) as well as PSIRA Grade A Security Certificate will be added as an advantage. Competencies: Excellent Communication (written and verbal) and report writing skills; People and performance management; Problem Solving and analyses; Decision making; Computer literacy; Research skills; Should be flexible and have the ability to work with the team, as well as the ability to work independently; Planning and execution; Excellent interpersonal skills; Administrative skills; Financial Management skills; Knowledge of Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS), Minimum Physical Security Standards (MPSS), The vetting strategic act, The Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act, The public Finance Management Act 1 of 1999; The Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977; Security procedures Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act 53 of 1985, etc. A valid driver’s license.

Duties :

  • Conduct vetting presentations and awareness to all employees; Conduct Threat and Risk Assessment; Conduct vetting for all SMS members and all employees that deals with sensitive information; Implement MISS in the Department; Assist with drafting security policy; Ensure proper administration of all vetting applications and keeping records thereof; Implement Information Security Management i.e Document Security; Screening of all service providers and contractors that are doing business with the Department; Conduct pre- employment screening of candidates before appointments; Implement the Contingency Plans and Business Continuity Plans in the department; Identify all risks and threats to the security of the institution, as well as vulnerabilities in the institution’s capacity to counter them; Implement all security measures and procedures for the whole institution, based on the security policy; Continuous liaison with Law Enforcement Agencies regarding security matters.ie State Security Agency; Investigation and reporting of security breaches to the Security Manager, State Security Agency (SSA) and South African Police Services (SAPS); Manage Performance of the staff and ensure Training and development of subordinates.
