Grade 12 plus Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7)/National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Environmental Management, Environmental Law, Natural Sciences, Planning fields or relevant qualification as recognised by SAQA. Valid driver’s license.
COMPETENCIES: Computer Literacy. Knowledge of Legislation (NEMA and others). Good understanding of Gauteng development plans. Understanding of Public Service legislations, regulations, and departmental policies. Good communication, writing and admin skills (registering and tracking documents, filling, etc.) Computer literacy including GIS skills. Good organization skills.
Contribute to the facilitation cooperative and corporate governance and promote implementation of intergovernmental sector programmes. Report on the Environmental issues into sector plans. Comment on legislation, policy and strategy relevant to the function. Assist in the response to requests for information or attempt to resolve any issues at the request of Management. Prepare Environmental Implementation Plans and Annual Compliance Reports. Attend Local Government Support meetings and help with development of relevant projects to be implemented by municipalities. Assist with the development of the Local Government Support Implementation Plan, including monitoring. Attend environmental coordination forums with the municipalities. Contribute to the review of sector tools (IDP, PGDS, SDF etc.) to facilitate integration of environmental content. Assist in conducting meetings and coordination with Departments reviewing sector tools to ensure the integration of environmental issues into those tools. Filing and document management and back to office reports. Assist in the organisation of workshops/ conferences as required.
