Grade 12 plus Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7)/National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Environmental Management, Environmental Law, Natural Sciences, Planning fields or relevant qualification as recognised by SAQA. Valid driver’s license. COMPETENCIES: Computer Literacy. Knowledge of Legislation (NEMA and others). Good understanding of Gauteng development plans. Understanding of Public Service legislations, regulations, and departmental policies. Good communication, writing and admin skills (registering and tracking documents, filling, etc.) Ability to critically analyse and interpret information. Computer literacy including GIS skills. Good organisation skills.
Assist with the review of existing Sustainable Use of the Environment (SUE) policies ensuring that legislation, policies, procedures, systems, guidelines and other legislative tools are developed to guide environmental decisions. Support with the planning, and development of the State of the Environment (SoE)/Outlook Report. Initiate the development of legal tools (policies, guidelines etc.) Assist with the planning and development of relevant Environmental Management Instruments such as Environmental Management Framework. Assist in the coordination and scheduling of meetings with consultants and authorities as necessary for the development of the tools, guidelines etc. to be developed by the Directorate. Contribute comments on various legislations, policies and other documents of provincial and national strategic nature relevant to the function. Report on the indicators in the Provincial and or National Environment Outlook Report. Facilitate the development of the Environmental Management Framework Standard. Facilitate the use of tools, legislation, guidelines, norms and standards, policies, procedures developed to guide environmental decision-making (EMF, Outlook, SEA and EIP) through policy accessibility. Filing and document management and back to office reports.
