LLB (or as otherwise determined by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development). A minimum of 3 to 8 years’ appropriate post qualification legal experience.
COMPETENCIES: Knowledge and understanding of all Legislation and Regulations applicable to Infrastructure Development, PFMA and relevant legislation and regulations that govern the Public Service, including knowledge of Corporate and Administrative law, interpretation of contracts and management of litigation.
SKILLS– The ability to research, interpret and apply the law to the facts. Legal Research and drafting skills, interpersonal relations, dispute resolution, report writing and computer literacy skills, Problem solving, Diversity awareness, Communication, Analytical, Initiative, Innovation/ continuous improvement, Presentation, Report-writing, Planning and organizing.
ATTRIBUTES: Cost conscious, Flexible/ change oriented, Proactive and resourceful, Quality oriented, Innovative, Decisive, Strategic and Influential.
Negotiate, draft, vet, review and terminate contracts and other legal documents on behalf of the Department (i.e. Contracts, MOUs, MOAs, SLAs, SDAs, POAs, Memorandums etc). Provide legal opinions on a variety of matter. Provide verbal and written legal opinions on a variety of matters pertaining to litigation involving the Department. Ensure legal support service in general litigation matters.
