Major aged‑care provider Annecto to close in July

Annecto Incorporated, a prominent Australia-based provider of aged care and disability support services, announced it will cease all operations in July 2025, ending more than 70 years of service across Victoria, NSW, Queensland, and the ACT.

Serving over 3,000 clients and employing around 1,000 staff, the closure results from “service model shifts” and financial challenges facing the organisation.

While staff and clients have not always been individually notified—some discovering the news via media—Annecto is coordinating with federal and state agencies, including the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, NDIS, and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, to ensure a smooth transition to alternative service providers.

Clients voiced concern over the timing and method of notification. One recalled:

“I’m not in a position to help [my partner] shower… if there’s a lag between the changeover we’re going to be in trouble.”

Annecto’s Chair, Colleen Furnaletto, said:

“This decision was not made lightly… We deeply appreciate the support of our community over all these years.”

The phased closure aligns with nationwide aged-care reforms launching 1 July 2025, under the new Aged Care Act 2024, which introduces significant regulatory changes for providers.
