For many young South Africans living with disabilities, the biggest barrier to employment is not talent — it is access to opportunity.
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) is now opening that door.
ACSA is inviting graduates aged 18–34 to apply for an 18-month internship programme designed to help young professionals gain real workplace experience inside one of the country’s most complex and high-impact industries: aviation.
Interns will be placed at major airports across South Africa:
- O.R. Tambo International Airport
- Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport
- King Shaka International Airport
- Bram Fischer International Airport
- King Phalo Airport
This is not a narrow aviation-pilot pathway. Airports operate like cities — combining infrastructure, business, finance, logistics, safety, customer experience and governance. The programme therefore welcomes graduates from multiple disciplines.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must hold a National Diploma (NQF 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in fields such as:
- Commercial, Built Environment, Architecture, Transport, Business Management or Public Administration
- Business Development or Property Management
- Legal, Risk, Compliance, Governance or Internal Audit
- Corporate Strategy, Humanities or Social Sciences
- Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain or Procurement
- Marketing and Communications
- Project Management
ACSA is looking beyond qualifications. They are seeking candidates who are resilient, collaborative, ethical and ready to contribute — individuals who can adapt, communicate and grow in a professional environment.
Why This Matters
Internships often determine whether graduates ever enter the formal economy. For persons with disabilities, workplace exposure is one of the most important stepping stones to long-term employment.
This programme offers practical experience inside real operations — not simulated training — giving candidates the credibility and confidence needed to build sustainable careers.
