As the official voice of DeafBlind people in South Africa, DeafBlind South Africa has been formed to provide support services to DeafBlind individuals, their families, caregivers and friends, as well as any other persons closely involved with their day-to-day activities. It serves DeafBlind individuals of all ages, with all conditions of DeafBlindness, regardless of the severity of the dual sensory impairments.
DeafBlindness is regarded as a unique disability, as the combination of both vision and hearing loss requires specialised methods of communication, orientation and mobility, and independent living skills
