Expert panel to boost NDIS support standards

Australia has appointed an expert-led committee to test which NDIS supports should be funded, with a focus on best-practice and evidence-based results. The NDIS Evidence Advisory Committee (EAC) will be chaired by Associate Professor Jill Duncan OAM, with a majority of members being people with disabilities.

The EAC will give independent advice on therapies and assistive technologies, drawing on research, lived experience and public input. Consultations for each support will begin in late 2025. The government has allocated $45.5 million over four years to establish the committee.

Three technical sub-committees will support the work:

  • Assistive Technology & Capital (co-chairs: Dr Lisa Chaffey; Professor Alistair McEwan)
  • Capacity Building & Therapies (co-chairs: Dr Walid Jammal; Professor Yasmine Probst)
  • Economics (co-chairs: Professor Liliana Bulfone; Professor Rob Carter).

Committee members include: A/Prof Jill Duncan (chair), Professor Angus Buchanan, Melanie Eagle, Matthew Formston AM, Professor Tammy Hoffman OAM, Dr Robyn Mildon, Andrew Moffat, Mary Sayers and Clare Gibellini.
