The National Council of and for People with Disabilities and affiliate Association for People with Disabilities had a busy Mandela Day as they build toward their Casual Day campaign in September.
Changeability (Stellenbosch) – We had a great Mandela Day in Groendal, Franschhoek today! Our group was spoiled with breakfast by our staff & blankets from the local church!
George APD (George) – As part of our 67 minute to honour Nelson Mandela, our Young Adults spent some time at Kidstop, were they helped to serve food and got their hands dirty with some cleaning. The kids then had Morning devotion and ended the day with some fun games.
Knysna APD (Knysna) – Knysna APD had the privilege to celebrate Mandela Day by giving out soup and ‘rooster brood’ to the local community in Hornlee.
Olifantsrivier APD (Vredendal) – Olifantsrivier was a hive of activity as several companies joined us in renovating our day care centre and giving the play park a refreshing coat of paint!
Oudtshoorn APD (Oudtshoorn) – Eljada Nasorg, a centre for intellectually impaired adults, visited our workshop clients to put on a short performance, and spent the day getting to know each other and making new friends.
Tygerberg APD (Goodwood) – A young girl, Juli-Maré Odendal, spent Mandela Day volunteering at Miracles Workshop.
NCPD Gauteng Head Office – Tectura whom we are proud to have worked together for two years, on preparing youth with disabilities for the workplace, gave back by doing their 67 minutes for Mandela Day by painting our NCPD/Casual Day offices.
