Protestors challenge disabled access restrictions at Stonehenge

A small but determined group of campaigners gathered near Stonehenge on Monday morning (22 September) to protest against what they described as “discriminatory” access restrictions for disabled visitors. The demonstration drew attention to the barriers faced by people with disabilities in accessing one of the UK’s most iconic heritage sites.

Campaigners highlighted that the current arrangements limit equal enjoyment of the site and undermine efforts towards inclusivity. They argue that access should be designed to accommodate all visitors without discrimination.

The protest adds to wider calls for heritage and cultural sites to prioritise accessibility and make changes that reflect the rights of disabled people. Campaigners hope the action will prompt authorities to re-examine policies and deliver improvements.
