South Africa has lost a legend and a fierce warrior for equality. The current Ms Deaf SA, Judith Madi, has passed away.
Madi’s battle was for equal rights and women empowerment. When she won the crown, shesaid: “I’m grateful for my friends, sisters and fiancé for their moral support. Now that I’ve won the title I would like to partner with social development to empower young girls and host women programmes.”
Miss, Mr & Mrs Deaf South Africa released a statement announced the tragic news on the organisation’s Facebook page: “It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our dearly and beloved Ms Deaf South Africa 2019 Judith Madi. Our thoughts and condolences are with her family, colleagues and loved ones. May she rest in peace.”
The loss of Judith Madi is a loss for the whole nation. We must remember her achievements and goals and continue with her important work towards real transformation, inclusion and equality.
