Based on Vernon Street, the organisation delivers hands-on training and supported employment to over 70 participants from across the Tablelands region. With a strong focus on confidence-building and personalised guidance, Local Workplace is helping individuals with disabilities gain independence and meaningful long-term employment.

“Our approach is all about meeting people where they are,” said Manager Tammie Carney. “We work side by side with each participant to help them realise their goals—whether that’s gaining a new skill, entering the workforce, or simply building self-esteem.”

As demand grows for inclusive employment programs in regional Australia, Local Workplace is proving that small towns can lead the way in disability empowerment.

Disability Connect is proud to highlight this standout Australian initiative that’s helping build a more inclusive future—one opportunity at a time.
