Inclusive Pride: Everyone belongs

Pride Month is in full swing around the world, and this year’s celebrations are sending a clear message — inclusion means everyone. Across Australia and beyond, LGBTQIA+ Pride events are becoming more accessible and disability-friendly, offering meaningful ways for people with disabilities to participate and be celebrated.

While some major events have already taken place, there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved. From community marches and accessible drag shows to inclusive panel discussions and online forums, the focus is shifting toward removing barriers that have historically excluded people with disabilities from Pride spaces.

Organisers are making accessibility a priority by offering Auslan interpreters, step-free venues, quiet spaces, mobility-friendly seating, and clear visual guides. Many virtual events have also been designed with screen-reader compatibility, captioning, and user-friendly platforms — ensuring no one is left out.

The message is clear: Pride isn’t just a party — it’s a powerful expression of identity, dignity, and unity. By embracing disability inclusion, Pride Month becomes not just a celebration of who we love, but how we honour every part of who we are.

Whether you’re marching, watching, or supporting from home — it’s not too late to join in. Because real Pride includes every body, every voice, and every story.
