The university’s Disability Unit plays a vital role in ensuring accessibility and academic support, from assistive technology and adaptive learning materials to one-on-one guidance and campus-wide awareness.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Sibongile Muthwa noted that the award affirms NMU’s commitment to social justice and student success, saying:

“Our work is about ensuring that no student is left behind. We believe in creating a space where every individual can thrive.”

NMU continues to expand its services, ensuring that students with disabilities are not only accommodated, but actively empowered throughout their university journey.
